HOLLY COMMERCIAL CLUB – September 7 2016
Attendance: Jackie Leiker, Chantel Fuller, Jerry L’Estrange, Pearl Reyman, Cynthia Simon, Viola Melcher, Calvin Melcher, John Golden, Tracee Nelson-Yarborough, Rod Swisher, Tracy Kirmer, and Jesse Frey. Guests: Kathy McCorkle, Corey Doss.
Jesse Frey said grace before we enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the Methodist women.
President John Golden called the meeting to order at 12:15 p.m.
Introduction of Guests: Kathy McCorkle – Director of Domestic Safety Resource Center, Corey Doss – Superintendent of Holly Schools.
Minutes: Viola Melcher made a motion to approve the minutes as presented of our August 3, 2016 meeting, motion seconded by Jackie Leiker, and carried unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report:
- The P&L was presented, showing net loss of ($1,266.83) for the month of August, and a year-to-date loss of ($134.34). Calvin Melcher made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented; the motion was seconded by Jackie Leiker, and carried unanimously.
- John presented the Holly Shopper report, showing a net income $265.54 for the July 26 Shopper and a year-to-date income of $347.27. Pearl Reyman made a motion to accept the Holly Shopper report as presented; Tracy Kirmer seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
- Membership stands at 24 full-members and 5 associate-members, as of today. New member Rodan and Fields – Monica Leiker. Two new businesses indicated interest in becoming members. BNV’D and East Side Liquor.
Facebook page: Chantel Fuller is continuing work on updating the Holly Commercial Club’s page.
KVAY Ads: Starting September 1, ads for TBK Bank, Tumbleweed Welding, and Holly Family Chiropractic are running. Tracy commented about there not being an EMT class in Holly this time around, but maybe after the first of the year they will try to have another one and we could possibly use some airtime for that purpose.
Old Business: Holly Fun Club is still planning to have activities for kids after the Gateway Fair parade on the grounds of the Shanner Elementary playground.
Presentations:
- Kathy McCorkle, director of Domestic Safety Resource Center presented information on what the organization does. They are a victim advocacy service for the 15th Judicial District of the State of Colorado that includes Baca, Cheyenne, Kiowa, and Prowers counties. Kathy shared what types of services they provide and things that they can assist victims with.
- Jerry L’Estrange from the Town of Holly reported PUMA has its draft report out and PEP (formerly PCDI) also has a report out. Both reports will be available at Town Hall and at the town board meeting tonight as well.
- Jesse Frey brought information about printing a business/service directory for the businesses in Holly and the surrounding area and furthering the membership of the group. Discussion followed regarding this idea and what could be done with that possibility and places to post the publication or include with the Holly Shopper. Rod Swisher then made a motion and Cynthia Simon seconded to form a “Membership Committee,” consisting of Rod Swisher, Tracy Kirmer, and Jesse Frey, that would further discuss this idea and come to next month’s meeting with more information. The motion carried unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned by John at 1:01 p.m. The next meeting of the Holly Commercial Club will be held at 12:00 noon on October 5, 2016.
