FULL-TIME DEPUTY PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR – Exempt – City of Lamar – Applications are now being accepted for the position of Deputy Public Works Director. Under administrative direction of the Public Works Director this position performs general operating standards, plans, implements, and directs a comprehensive municipal airport and public works program that will ensure safe and sound planning, development, maintenance and service to the public, including but not limited to the airport, streets, sanitation, water, wastewater, and equipment maintenance. Interpretive judgment in variation from established procedures and standards required. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of education and/or experience in relation to Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible engineering and public works experience, including three years in a supervisory or administrative capacity may be considered. Maintains mandated certificates, licenses and training units to be contingent upon current State and EPA regulations and the needs or requirements of the City. Full-time Water Technician – Operator in Training (OIT) – The Operator in Training performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled technical work in the operation and maintenance of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems. The OIT must attain a class D or Small systems equivalent certification in water or wastewater within 6 months of joining the Department, and demonstrate competence in performing the basic duties of the trade. Will be on-call to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days per week on a rotating basis. Will be required to respond to after-hours emergencies as they occur nights, weekends, and holidays. City of Lamar – Communications and Marketing Coordinator or CM Assistant– Applications are being accepted for a full-time position in Communications and Marketing (CM) or CM Assistant within the City’s Community Development Office. This is a 40-hour a week position with occasional evenings and weekends. Depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications, the position will be either a CM Coordinator or Assistant-level paygrade with a starting hourly range of $18.72/hr. (Assistant) or $22.36/hr. (Coordinator) depending on qualifications (DOE). A CM Coordinator will have no less than five years of documented, professional marketing experience to include public relations, traditional and digital media, photography, branding, and/or marketing writing and an advanced degree or training in a marketing- related discipline. Experience with web accessibility and website redesigns as well as project management are advantageous. The City will also consider entry-level CM Assistant candidates with a knowledge of social media, websites, and marketing with an understanding that the CM Assistant will grow in the position with guidance from the Director. The CM position is responsible for running livestreams at Lamar City Council bi-monthly meetings.
