MAINTENANCE WORKER – Applications are being accepted for a Maintenance Worker in the City of Lamar’s Parks/Cemeteries Department. This position will require an individual that is a self-starter and be able to work individually and within a small work group proficiently. The City of Lamar is known for its well-maintained Parks and Cemeteries and providing exceptional customer service. Essential Functions: Operate grounds equipment i.e. trimmer, mowers, etc. on a regular basis; facilitate burial services while offering exceptional customer service; follow and perform maintenance for cemetery grounds and follow maintenance directives by cemetery grounds management. Majority of work performed outdoors in all weather conditions. EMERGENCY SERVICE COMMUNICATOR – The City of Lamar is accepting applications for an Emergency Service Communicator in the E-911 Dispatch Center. Schedule: Graveyard 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Under general supervision is responsible for receiving all calls to Communications Center, analyzing the calls, and determining the appropriate need for response. He/she notifies law enforcement, fire, and/or ambulance personnel or requests for service and follows through on all responses. LAMAR UTILITES BOARD TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING
REGARDING PROPOSED RATE ADJUSTMENTS

The Lamar Utilities Board will hold a public hearing at 12:00 noon on September 29, 2020 by conference call to consider a proposed 1.4% electric rate increase to Residential, General Service Small, and General Service Large customers. The Residential customer increase is expected to add $1.65 on a typical residential customer’s monthly bill, and would become effective January 1, 2021. Prior to the proposed rate increase, Lamar Utilities Board participated in a Cost-of-Service rate study to ensure the financial health of the electric utility. The proposed rate increase is necessary to allow Lamar Utilities Board to cover its expenses in supplying reliable power to its residential and commercial customers.
