The City of Lamar is accepting applications for a Heavy Equipment Operator at the Landfill.   Under limited supervision, operates heavy and medium construction and maintenance equipment and large trucks at the municipal landfill and/or the Street Department. High school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in heavy equipment operations; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  Possession of a valid Colorado Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License.

OPERATOR IN TRAINING (OIT)

The City of Lamar is accepting applications for an entry-level OIT in the Lamar Water and Wastewater Department.  Under the direction of a certified operator and the general supervision of the Department Superintendent, the OIT performs a variety of semi-skilled work in the operation, installation, and maintenance of the City’s water and wastewater systems. Special Requirements:  The OIT must attain a class D or Small systems equivalent certification in water or wastewater within 6 months of joining the Department and must have a Class B CDL license upon hire.  Will be on-call to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days per week on a rotating basis.

Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic

The City of Lamar is accepting applications for an airframe and powerplant (A&P) mechanic to work at Southeast Colorado Regional Airport.  Duties: Job involves tasks such as performing routine checks and repairs, keeping records of inventory, and identifying faults with components of the plane.  This is a 40 hour per week.  Some weekend work may be required but comp time is available.  Requirements:  Applicants must hold a valid Airframe and Powerplant license. Must be at least 18 years of age, be fluent in English, and have 30 months experience in either the A (Airframe) or P (Powerplant) certification. Preferred: IA Certification and/or the ability to obtain IA Certification within one year of hire.

Salary Range:  $16.15 – $23.21 or DOE. Special Announcement from Lamar Light and Power:

Lamar Light & Power had begun to manually collect monthly readings of their Electrical meters. This will include but not limited to all Electrical meters in our service area that do not meet our Sensus FlexNet Advanced Automated Metering Infrastructure criteria.

We would ask our customers to please make sure we have access to your meters, which could be located in your back yards, in/or on porches, or service poles in your yards. As well as to make sure your pets are not located next to, or attached to the location of our Electrical meters.

Prowers County Board Positions are Open

The Prowers County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications from persons who are residents of Powers County to fill one (1) position on the five member Prowers County Planning Commission with a term expiring January, 2025.

Commission members are required to meet at 8:00 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. Additional meetings may be required as needed. Commission members review land use applications and make formal recommendations based on the terms of the Prowers County Zoning Regulations, Subdivision Regulations and related plans. Appointed members serve as volunteers.

The Prowers County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications from persons who are residents of East Prowers Weed Control District to fill the three (3) positions on the Board.

Board members are required to meet at least once each month. Additional meetings may be required as needed. Appointed members serve as volunteers. The term will expire in January of 2026.
