Judith Elaine Brown Rasmussen – October 1, 1945 – September 2, 2026

Judith Elaine Brown Rasmussen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 2, 2026 in Castle Rock, Colorado, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 80 years old.

Judy was born October 1, 1945, in Las Animas, Colorado, to Humphrey Adelbert “Del” Brown and Mary Augusta “Gussie” (Mason) Brown. In the early 1970s, she proudly served in the Army Reserves.

Judy was a woman of deep faith and was committed to her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith was an important part of her life and provided her with strength, peace, and hope. She cherished the teachings of the gospel and the importance of family, service, and eternal relationships. Her belief in the eternal nature of families was especially meaningful to her and complemented her love of genealogy and her desire to learn about and preserve the stories of those who came before her.

Judy’s greatest joys in life were found in the simple things she loved deeply. She had a special love for the outdoors, animals, and babies. Above all, she treasured her family and took great interest in the generations who came before her. One of her favorite pastimes was genealogy, where she enjoyed researching, discovering, and preserving her family’s history and the stories of those who came before her.

Judy also found peace and comfort in her flower beds and garden. She could often be found tending her plants, pulling weeds, and enjoying the beauty of the flowers she had lovingly nurtured. Gardening was much more than a pastime for Judy it was therapeutic, peaceful, and a source of genuine happiness.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Richard “Rick” Rasmussen; daughters, Julie Ferris and Gina Arnold; son, Jason and daughter-in-law, Justine Inskeep; stepchildren, Wendi Thompson and Eric Rasmussen; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a family enriched by her love, her faith, her stories, and the countless memories she created with each of them.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Humphrey Adelbert “Del” Brown and Mary Augusta “Gussie” (Mason) Brown; brothers, Mason Brown, A.P. Brown, and Hugh Brown; sisters, Mary Jo White and Emily Lu Carpenter; and son-in-law, Jesse Arnold.

Judy’s love of family, her faith, nature, animals, gardening, and the history of those who came before her will remain a lasting part of the legacy she leaves behind. Her belief in the importance of family and eternal relationships, along with her warmth, curiosity, and love, will live on through the many generations of family she cherished so dearly.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
