The donations for the Wall of Honor plaques at the 9/11 Memorial site on Big Timbers Museum property are beginning to grow.
Organizer Doug Harbour has been successful finding an engraver who can produce an attractive and long-lasting plaque which will be purchased for a $50 donation to honor a friend or loved one who honorably served their country in the military or as a First Responder.
The Memorial has come together over the past two years in various stages as donations and grants allow for the purchase of materials and labor, much of which has been donated. A groundbreaking ceremony was held October 1, 2016. Harbour says he is still looking for additional grants from state organizations, but the sale of the plaques will also help contribute to the completion of the project.
Donations or the purchase of a plaque may be made payable to Tri-State 9/11 Memorial Fund at PO 623, Lamar, Colorado. The plaques measure two by four inches and include information for the person being honored including name, branch and date of service. Each of the four lines can hold 20-25 spaces.
