Judy Hijar…January 12, 1947 – December 14, 2018

 

 

Funeral Services for Sugar City, Colorado resident Judy Hijar will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday December 21, 2018 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar, Colorado. Per Judy’s request there will be no public visitation.  Interment will take place at Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar, Colorado.

Judy Lou (Gergen) Hijar was born on January 12, 1947 in Lamar, Colorado to Coy and Margaret (Gist) Gergen. She passed away on December 14, 2018 at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado at the age of 71.

Judy graduated from Lamar High School in 1965 and was united in marriage to John Hijar shortly after graduation. She traveled with John while he was in the service.  Judy and John returned to Lamar when he was discharged in 1969.  In 1972 John’s job took them to various places including Colorado Springs, Oregon, and New Mexico-which she dearly loved, until retiring to a small acreage in Sugar City, Colorado. There she continued her lifelong passion of arts and crafts. She was an accomplished quilter, painter and artist of many other interests. Judy was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ordway, Colorado.

Judy is survived by her husband John Hijar of Sugar City, Colorado; children, Marc (Terry) Hijar of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Matthew Hijar of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Amanda (Justus) Hawks of Sugar City, Colorado; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Desiree, Natalie, Tyler, and Rayana; brother, Coy (Rita) Gergen of Dalhart, Texas; many other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Coy and Margaret Gergen; and son, Chad Hijar.
