A Happy Halloween at Alta Vista Charter School

Alta Vista Charter School students were happy to have some Halloween homework recently. The task was to create a pumpkin design based on a favorite character from various kid’s books and novels.

Pumpkin ‘selfies’ were also allowed and 44 students put their creative energies to work.

“We wish we had the room to display every entry as each was deserving of recognition,”
Alta Vista Principal, Talara Coen, said this was the third year the contest has been held and each year brings more participants and a way for the students to express themselves in a timely artwork assignment.

She and Tammi Martinez also thanked the Five Arrows Farm Produce Store for providing some discounts on the pumpkins selected by the kids for the contest.

Here’s how the judging turned out:

Overall- Chezne Woelk (Beauty and the Beast), Judge’s Choice 3-6 grades-Carson Lubbers (military pumpkin) Judge’s Choice K-2 grades-Jaeda Sicklebower (Rainbow Fish) and the Selfie Catergory-Olivia Veyna.
