Norma Carr Atkinson was born on May 24, 1923 in Cozad, Nebraska. She passed away in Eads, Colorado on January 16, 2017.
Norma lived in Lamar until the late 1970’s when she and her husband Jim Atkinson moved to Mt. Home Reservoir near Ft. Garland, Colorado. Jim passed away on January 21, 1990 and Norma remained at Mt. Home enjoying numerous visits from family and friends. Norma had a menagerie of animals including elk, deer, foxes, raccoons, skunks and stray cats that she fed including stray bears until recent years when health forced her to move.
Norma is survived by her three children; Wayne Williams, Harriet Vagher and Gary Atkinson as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Darlene Kirmer and Betty Proctor; and sisters-in-law, Zoe Connelly and Carolyn Carr; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Prairie Pines Assisted Living in Eads and the Lamar Hospice for all the love and kindness given to Norma.
Graveside services and interment were held on January 23, 2017, at Ft. Lyon National Cemetery in Las Animas, Colorado.
