City Sales Tax Revenues Enter 2017 with Gains

Sales tax revenue figures for November sales and Use Tax collected in December show a 6.27% gain for City of Lamar sales tax and a 6.46% increase for Total Sales and Use Tax collections. Sales tax collections were up $14,636 compared to 2015 and up $16,252 for the same period. Total monthly collections for 2016 were $267,716 compared to 2015 at $251,463.
Year to date collections, from January to December 2016 were also up with City Sales Tax at 1.83% for a modest gain of $58,563 for the year before and 3.96% for all collections for an increase of $136,815 over 2015. Total collections for 2016 were $3,588,045 compared to 2015 at $3,451,230.
A three year comparison of the 12 retail trades categories shows a degree of fluctuation in gains and losses for sales tax revenue in some specific categories:
