Details are still sketchy regarding a high speed police chase at around 9:30am Thursday morning, October 31st, which ended with the alleged suspect’s car apparently clipping the southwest corner of the Thai Spicy Basil Restaurant on North Main Street in Lamar and stopping after hitting a metal power pole just feet away on the north side of the BNSF railroad tracks.
Pursuit vehicles included the Colorado State Patrol, Prowers County Sheriff, Kiowa County Sheriff and Lamar Police Department. Other vehicles on site included Lamar Light and Power and the Lamar Fire and Ambulance Service.
Two persons, a man and a woman, were taken into custody by the Lamar Police Department.
The pursuit allegedly began in Kiowa County and The Prowers Journal made contact with the Sheriff’s Office and was told that details should be forthcoming, but with no specific timetable.
