Several organizations were granted waivers for use of the Prowers County Fairgrounds for their scheduled events in 2019.

The Prowers County Commissioners approved the rental of the fairgrounds for the annual Sand and Sage Roundup set for August 3rd through the 10th this year.  Axel Thurner, representing the Vaqueros Saddle Club and the Colorado Mounted Thunder group, set eight dates in the year for the Vaqueros Club between March and November and the Mounted Thunder organization which features competition for horseback riders in a pistol and rifle accuracy contest rented the facilities for September 21-22.  Lawrence Brase, Shrine Circus Chairman, secured the fairgrounds for the annual Shrine Circus on May 27th.

In other action, the commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding between Las Animas County and the Prowers County Hotline County Connection Center for 2019, approved the lease of tower space in Carlton with the City of Lamar and approved a letter of support of the CDOT INFRA grant application for the Ports-to-Plains corridor on Highway 287 for passing lanes from Kit Carson, CO and extending to the CO/Oklahoma border.
