Elaisa Magana…April 2, 1932 – February 22, 2019

 

Mass of Christian Burial for Elaisa Magana will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas, Colorado with Father Henry Wertin officiating. Rosary/Scripture Service will take place prior to the Mass at 9:30 a.m. also at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in the Bent/Las Animas Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Horber Funeral Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Elaisa (Montoya) Magana was born on April 2, 1932 in Las Cruses, NM to Juan Bautista Montoya and Bertha L. Montoya Welch. She passed away at Bent County Health Care Center in Las Animas, CO on February 22, 2019 at the age of 86.

Elaisa worked for the VA for over 30 years and then worked in food service at the Las Animas Elementary School and also for Meals on Wheels at the Senior Center.

She is survived by her children, James Walton III, Mitchell Walton, and Nathan Magana; step children, Sandra Magana-Juvera, Samuel Magana, Allen Magana, and Vicky Magana-Licon; siblings, Marjorie “Margaret” Melgoza, Bertha Adame, James Montoya, and Daniel Montoya; grandchildren, Ashlee, Cameron, and Austin Walton, Ryan, Kendra, Zarchary, and Kadin Walton, Andrea, Estrella and Chante Magana, Jazlynn and Carlos, Marcos and Mario Jaramillo, Haley and Robert “Bubba” Martinez, Allyanna Magana, Amanda and Destinie Licon, Sam, Tiffany, Nicole and Joshua Magana; 21 great grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Elaisa was preceded in death by her parents; Juan Batista Montoya and Bertha L. Montoya Welch. Siblings, Grace Mondragon, Edna Cordova, Pauline Aceves, May Mestas, Bessie Bravo, Sarah Leatherwood, Epiphanio Montoya, Josinatio Montoya, Margaret Montoya, Juan Bautista Jr.
