For nearly 100 years, the Lamar Lions Club has been providing help to the community and Southeast Colorado. The members and their dedication is what make all of our activities possible. Lamar resident, Don Ater, is the classic example of a Lion who embraces these ideals. He was recently honored for his 60 years of service to the club. He has dedicated his life towards improving the community and its citizens.
At the ceremony, the President (David Jones) and club members presented Don with his citation and letter of appreciation. Pictured (from left to right) are: Lion Benny Shumate (Past President / Lion Tamer), Lion Garth Nieschburg (Past President), Lion Ken Callison (Past President / Membership Chairman), Lion Darren Stroh (1st Vice President / Secretary), Lion Dick Ramsey (Director) and Lion David Jones (President). Present (but not pictured) are: Lion George Demas (Past President), Leslie and Roger Stagner (Don’s daughter and son-in-law).
The Lamar Lions Clubs focuses helping people. Our activities have an impact locally and around the world. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at the Cow Palace Inn from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. We encourage anyone who wants to serve their community to come and be a part of something special.
