Lamar Elks Honor the November Students of the Month

The Lamar Elks are dedicated to bettering our community. Part of the way we do this, is to recognize those individuals who share the ideals we represent (i.e. charity, brotherly love, fidelity and justice). The students of the month are one avenue for achieving these objectives.

The November Students of the Month are: Jayme Wootten and Luis De La Torre. Jayme is the daughter of William Wootten and Nasaha Ojeda. She is active in: the knowledge bowl, drama, the pep, concert and jazz bands. Jayme is both a scholar and an athlete. She has lettered in track, is the current state champion in the shot put and a member of the Arkansas Valley Honor Band. Jayme has a 4.1 GPA and volunteers at the Lamar Public Library. After high school, she plans on studying medicine.

Luis is son of Nora and Luis De La Torre. He is active in sports at Lamar High School to include: football, basketball and baseball. Luis has lettered in these sports. He also received an academic letter for excellence. Luis has a 4.0 GPA. He enjoys spending time with his family and plans on attending college after high school.

These students represent some of the best and brightest in Lamar.

They are examples for others to follow and show the promise of our young generation. The Elks is committed to always remembering them what they do for the community. This is how we say thank you. It is a way of encouraging them to continue doing their good deeds.
