2018 Lamar Days, “Shake Rattle and Roll Back to the 50s”

Despite the chilly, rainy weather this past Saturday morning, participants lined up along East Olive Street in Lamar, ready to brave the elements for the traditional Chamber of Commerce, Lamar Days Parade.
Some folks sported seldom-used umbrellas; others wore slickers, while the majority just endured the sprinkles, hoping it would soon stop as they continued to set up their floats. With just a few minutes before the parade began, the sprinkles mostly came to an end.
The Eatons, this year’s Zonta parade royalty, sat in the rear of an open convertible, with Donna Eaton at the ready with a smile and her umbrella, just-in-case. Dr. Dwain Eaton appeared game for any kind of weather that came their way. This year’s Colorado Welcome Center Honorees were Patty and Mark Rees.
Following the route along South Second and then Cedar Streets to Willow Creek Park, the floats provided the pathway to vendors, displays, food booths, the Rod Ron Car show featuring classic cars and motorcycles and the annual festivities that accompany Lamar Days.
