Mildred Medina…February 3, 1920 – December 16, 2017

 

Mass of Christian Burial for Mildred Medina will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas, Colorado with Father Henry Wertin officiating. Interment will follow in the Bent/Las Animas Cemetery.  Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Horber Funeral Chapel.

Mildred S. Medina was born on February 3, 1920 in Stonewall, New Mexico to Jose and Alice (Martinez) Sainz. She passed away with family by her side on December 16, 2017 at her home in Las Animas, Colorado at the age of 97.

Mildred found delight in gardening, crocheting, and valued watching sports, especially the Broncos and Rockies. Most importantly, she loved her family; raising four of her grandchildren.  Mildred never met a stranger.  Mildred was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas where she devoted much of her time.

Mildred is survived by her children, Irene (Jerry) Thomas, Bill (Henri) Medina, Georgia Ramon, Larry Medina, and Elizabeth (David) Trujillo; son-in-law, Tony Mondragon; 23 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 39 great great grandchildren; and one great great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Medina Sr.; daughter, Helen Mondragon; son, Diddo Medina; grandson, Leonard Medina; great grandson, Mario Mondragon; as well as her brothers and sisters.
