It’s Oktoberfest this Saturday !!!

The weatherman is calling for sunny skies and highs in the 70s for Saturday, September 24^th for the annual Lamar Chamber of Commerce Oktoberfest.

The activities will run from 11am to 8pm and features the 5^th annual beers and brats for boobies 5K run to benefit the Lamar Area Hospice as well as live bands and Sam Adams beers in the expanded beer garden.  The chamber received permission this year from the Lamar City Council, to expand the beer garden so the vendor’s areas in the chamber parking lot will allow folks to enjoy their favorite brew while they shop. The expanded area excludes the entryway into the Welcome Center.  Vendors may also set up their tables outside the beer garden area which borders East Beech Street’s sidewalk next to the steam engine locomotive.

Registration for the benefit race begins at 10am and the runners are taking off on the beer and bratwurst run at 11:30. There’s music through the day with a DJ starting the tunes at 11am, followed by the local band, JUDI at 5pm, followed by the Jacob Christopher Band at 6:30pm.  A magician will entertain the crowds while vendors sell their displays and inflatables will be back for another year for the youngsters.  There’s a face painting booth as well as pumpkin decorating from 1 to 3pm.
