He was the eldest of three children and shared his early years with his sister, Jennifer, and brother, James. Steve was later adopted by Stephen and Fran Dreiling, joining their family and taking the name Steven Dreiling.
Steve was married in his adult years, and to this marriage he had a son, James Dreiling, in April of 1998. James was also lovingly raised by Stephen and Fran, his grandparents. In June 2007, Steve relocated to Lamar, Colorado, where he met the love of his life, Shala DeVoter. Their connection was immediate and undeniable. Though they were officially united in marriage on July 15, 2009, they considered themselves soulmates from the very beginning. Together they built a life filled with love, companionship, and treasured memories.
Steve was a hardworking and dedicated man. He began his career in Lamar with Rider Metal, where he
helped erect steel buildings and install metal roofing. He later joined Brody's Plumbing, where
connections he made eventually led him to a career with Jordan Process. There, Steve found not only
fulfilling work but also lasting friendships. He took great pride in his job, embraced every opportunity to
learn, and greatly valued the friendships he formed with his coworkers. His years at Jordan Process brought him a sense of purpose, growth, and enjoyment that remained with him until his passing.
Steve was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be remembered for his kind heart, loyal
friendship, and unwavering devotion to those he cared about. His presence brought comfort, laughter,
and strength to those around him. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing
and loving him.
