Plenty to Do for Chamber Oktoberfest

There are plenty of events and attractions for the annual Lamar Chamber of Commerce Oktoberfest, Saturday, October 5th at the Lamar Chamber offices along East Beech Street.
Food vendors will keep you from getting hungry with offers of BBQ, burgers, fries, ribbon fries, funnel cakes, corn dogs, pretzels, ice cream beads, kettle corn and ices and drinks, including the popular beer garden which will open at 11am. You can also shop for craft items from numerous vendors.
That’s the same time the 8th annual Beers & Brats for Boobies, 5K run begins with hundreds of participants taking part to raise funds for Lamar Area Hospice and Southeast Colorado Cancer Initiative this year. The run’s award ceremonies will begin at 11:35 that morning.
Another popular fund-raiser features the annual Toys for Tots Poker Run which starts with an 8am registration and hits the road at 9am, returning at around 12:30pm. The motorcycle games of skill start at 1:30 on East Beech Street and All the Right Moves and Spirit Dance entertains at 12:30pm and 3pm, respectively.
From 10am on, a Kid’s Carnival will be underway in the Enchanted Forest and should continue until around 4pm, depending on the number of kids attending. This will feature rides to a pumpkin patch and decorating until all the gourds are gone. There’s also pumpkin bowling and pumpkin Tic Tac Toe. A corn hold contest begins at 4pm to raise funds for the 2021 Junior After Prom, large coloring pages will be set up in the Forest and JUDI performs at 5pm with live music continuing at 8:30pm with Adam Lopez and Band.
Kids games will be set up along the path of the Forest, there’s a rock wall to climb and Walk on Water Bubbles will be present. The Lamar Elks Lodge will present the movie, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” every half hour at the Forest with popcorn, kool-aid and water drinks for the kids. A VROne virtual reality trailer will offer entertainment to kids 9 and older.
