Kirk Crespin, Announcement of Candidacy

I am pleased to announce my candidacy for the Mayor of the City of Lamar in the November 2019 election.

I have served as your City Council member for Ward 1 over the past ten years, and as your Mayor-Pro Tem for the past five. During this time, I have had the opportunity to learn how our city government functions and have helped to negotiate and represent the city in various capacities.  I believe these same opportunities have given me the knowledge and experience to be the best candidate for your Mayor.

I have been a resident of the City of Lamar for a large majority of my life. I grew up in Hasty, Colorado and am the son of longtime area residents, Ted and Alice Crespin.  I graduated from McClave High School and am also a Lamar Community College Alumni.  I have worked in Lamar for many years in various positions that include sales and information technology.  For the past 11 years I have worked as the Information Technology and Security Officer at Community State Bank.

I have two sons who are 20 and 13. In November of 2017, we expanded our family when I married my wife Andrea Crespin of Pueblo, who works as a nurse in the Operating Room at Prowers Medical Center.  With my wife Andrea and her daughter and son, who are 17 and 14, we have chosen to stay and remain residents of this great community.

After college, I began looking for work opportunities in Lamar and I felt that the people and the City of Lamar were very open and gave me the opportunities that I had hoped for. It was shortly thereafter, I decided to begin giving back to our community, by participating in various organizations.  Through the years, I have participated in the Lamar Jaycees, the Lamar Chamber of Commerce, Voces Unidas, the Lamar Sunshine Rotary, the Lamar Elks, and the Lamar Eagles and have served on the City’s Airport, Water and PATS boards.

Over the past 10 years, I have had the opportunity to be a part of the great progress in our community; but, there is still more to be done. I am asking for your support to continue this progress with your vote for Mayor of the City of Lamar in the upcoming November election.

As your City Council Member, I believe that I am your representative and your voice to the city, and I need to maintain an open-door policy. If elected, as your Mayor, I will continue that belief and policy.  I will welcome your comments and suggestions, and I will do my best to consider and address your concerns.  You may contact me by email at or by phone at (719) 688-9778.

Thank you for your support, and thank you for the opportunity to be your candidate for the Mayor of the City of Lamar.
