Rain Didn’t Spoil the Holiday Spirit for Parade of Lights

The drizzle that began this past Friday afternoon, November 30th, became a sporadic downpour just in time for the annual Lamar Chamber of Commerce Parade of Lights at 6pm.

It sure didn’t diminish the audience. The parade route, South 4th Street starting from the municipal pool parking lot and ending at the Enchanted Forest, was lined with cars for those who found an early parking spot.  Those attendees who had to park on a side street and walk to South 4th were outfitted with umbrellas, caps and hats or a hooded jacket.

The Lamar Fire and Ambulance Service provided Santa Claus with transportation this year, and per tradition, he met with area children at his workshop in the Enchanted Forest.

This year’s parade winners were 4Rivers with First Place, Rural Fire Department in Second and Prowers Medical Center took Third Place honors with this year’s theme, “A Candy Cane Christmas.”
