Holiday Closures at Bent’s Old Fort

Bent’s Holiday Celebration

Bent’s Old Fort National Historic Site will be closed to the public on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 and Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in observance of those public holidays. The fort will be open regular winter hours of 9 am to 4 pm daily during the rest of the holiday season.

Through the winter, guided tours of the fort will be offered each day at 10:30 am and 1:00 pm, subject to available staffing. This tour schedule will be in effect through the spring season.

“Winter has a different feel at the fort,” according to Chief of Interpretation Rick Wallner, “the cool quiet of winter days, coupled with warm fires heating some of the rooms, make it easier to imagine yourself back in the 1840s. We especially invite those in the area expecting out-of-town guests for the holidays to plan a visit to the fort.”

The park store, featuring many unique reproduction items, children’s gifts, and hard-to-find books, will be open during all the same hours as the park itself for all your last-minute holiday shopping.

Due to the recently announced Federal holiday, the park’s administrative offices will also be closed on Monday, December 24. The fort will be open to visitors from 9 am to 4 pm that day.

To schedule a tour of the fort for a school or other group, please call (719) 383-5026. For other information on visiting the fort, call the park at (719) 383-5010 or see the park’s website at www.nps.gov/beol.
