Ryan and his Catch

We’re happy to report that the sport of fishing is alive and well out at North Gate Way Park, the former Valco Ponds just east of the Arkansas River Bridge on Highway 50.

We received a report and this photo of Ryan, out fishing for a day, this past Thursday, with his grandfather Doug Harbour when Ryan hooked a big one.

His catfish weighed in at 15 pounds and measured just three inches shy of three feet. Doug says Ryan has been casting his lures and bait into local waters since he was two years old and has been passionate about fishing all his life.  Apparently all that practice has paid off.

He adds that his grandson out-catches his Dad and Grandpa now. Doug cooked the backbone and ribs so far and they were great.
