Wyanona Faye (Patterson) Huddleston – July 9, 1932 – August 8, 2026

Wyanona Faye (Patterson) Huddleston, 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Las Animas, Colorado, on August 8, 2026. She was born on July 9, 1932, in Oklahoma to Walter and Irene (Spitzer) Patterson. 

In 1936, Wyanona’s family moved to the McIntosh Ranch in Bent County, where she spent much of her childhood. During her senior year of high school, the family moved into Las Animas, where she completed her education. 

Following graduation, Wyanona married William Frank Huddleston, in 1950 in La Junta, Co.  The newlyweds made their home in Florida and California while Frank completed his military service with the Marine Corps. Following his honorable discharge in 1954, the couple returned to Las Animas, where they built their life and raised their family. 

Wyanona and Frank were blessed with two children, Larry and Brenda. Together, they were hardworking and dedicated business owners. They operated Patterson Oil and later started Frank’s L.P., which they owned and operated for 34 years. During those years, they also sold Kawasaki motorcycles. Wyanona was an important part of the family businesses, contributing her time, energy, and dedication to their success. 

Faith was an important part of Wyanona’s life. She was a longtime member of the Friends Church in Las Animas, where she played a vital role in the daily operations of the church and worked tirelessly to help keep its doors open. Her commitment to her church and community reflected the caring and dependable person she was. 

Wyanona will be remembered for her strong work ethic, devotion to her family, commitment to her faith, and the many years she dedicated to her home, businesses, and church. She lived a life rooted in family, service, and perseverance, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the community she called home for so many years. 

Wyanona was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Irene Patterson; husband, Frank Huddleston; children, Larry Huddleston and Brenda Birks; and brother, Charley Patterson and his wife, Linda. 

She is survived by her grandchildren, Janae (Paul) Carstensen of Omaha, Nebraska; Amy (Roger) McDaniels of Jacksonville, Florida; Zach (Katy Colloton) Huddleston of Kansas City, Kansas; and Brendan (Amber) Birks of Waverly, Nebraska; adopted son, Jon (Sharla Hays) Montoya of Lamar, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Mary Huddleston of Jacksonville, Florida; great-grandchildren, Leah, Christian, Caleigh, Ellis, Sage, and Hazel; as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.
