Funeral Services for Leah Martin will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at The First Church of the Nazarene in Las Animas, CO with Bailey Lonnberg and Amy Griffy leading the services. Interment will follow at the Bent/Las Animas Cemetery in Las Animas, CO. Visitation for Leah will be held from 1 p.m.-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Horber Funeral Chapel in Las Animas, CO.
Leah Gay Martin was born on August 5, 1924 in La Junta, CO. to Paul Lester and Gay (Vanderpool) Griffy. She passed away on April 19, 2018 at Crowley County Nursing Center at the age of 93.
Leah loved embroidering blankets and tea towels. Leah also enjoyed quilting. She was an especially talented cook and baker; while being most known for her gingerbread boys and her famous chocolate cake. Leah loved music and loved to dance. Leah took great pride in being a grandmother. She enjoyed every moment with her family.
Leah is survived by her children, Sheryl (Dave) Anderson of Olney Springs, CO, Clifton (Linda) Martin of Las Animas, CO, Myrna (John) DuVall of Granada, CO, Renee Hoffman of Brighton, CO; son-in-law, Bill Yates; 15 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford “Tunce” Martin; daughter, Rita Yates; son-in-law, Calvin Hoffman; siblings, Otis Griffy, Bud Griffy, Alma Hollyman, and Byron Griffy; and infant great great granddaughter, Kelly.
