City Sales Tax January 2018 Revenue Report

 

 

City Sales Tax for the City of Lamar for January 2018 showed a slight increase of 1.24% or $2,914 over the previous year. Collections for 2017 were $235,142 compared to 2018 of $238,056.  Total Sales and Use Tax collections were up 10.09% over the previous year with a gain of $25,630.  Collections for 2017 were $253,958 compared to 2018 of $279,589.  Use Tax collections were up 130.52% for $22,501 for January.  Collections for 2017 were $17,240 compared to $39,742 for the past January.

Year to date figures show a healthy improvement over the previous year with Sales Tax collections up 12.35% for a gain over last year of $72,596. Collections for 2017 were $588,065 and for January, collections were at $660,662.  Total Sales and Use Tax collections are up 19.60% with a difference of $128,286 over the previous year at this time.  Collections for 2017, year to date are $654,394 and are $782,680 for 2018.

A three year comparison on sales tax revenue for 12 retail goods and services for Lamar shows a generally favorable increase with one or two downturns.
