The Prowers County Democratic Assembly met March 20, 2018, at Lamar High School to choose delegates to the Colorado State Democratic Assembly. These State and Congressional District Assemblies will be held April 13-14 in Broomfield.
The four delegates, elected by acclimation, are Susan Crites, Jillane Hixson, Suzie Mitchell, and Michael Wright. County Chair Bob Seay will also be attending, as one of the state party’s official operating team.
Both the Democrats and the Republicans have a number of races this year where multiple candidates have declared themselves interested. The state assemblies are where these candidates will present their qualifications to the delegates, who will then vote to see which ones gain a spot on their respective parties’ primary ballots.
This year’s primary election date is June 26th. Ballots will be mailed out beginning in early June. Voters registered as Unaffiliated will receive ballots for both parties, but must choose only one to fill out and send in.
