Letter to the Editor: Thanks and Appreciation from Jim Larrick

On behalf of the Lamar Jr. Babe Ruth Baseball League, I would like to thank the following individuals and businesses for their support of the Lamar League hosting the 10 and Under State Tournament and the 11 year old State Tournament at the Lamar Sports Complex from July 6th thru July 9th.

Lamar Partnership, Inc., under the direction of Tera Bender and Angie Cue, managed the barbecue on Thursday evening as well as manned the admission gate and the souvenir booth for the weekend. Their efforts were greatly appreciated.

Melissa Larrick, Tana Pearson and Jamie Hernandez put together the entry information and did the computer data input that was needed to get our teams in the tournament. Melissa and Tana also maintained the computer data entry during the actual tournament.

A big ‘thank you’ to Thane Milenski of 5 Rivers Cattle Company and Gary Turpin of Heath and Son and Turpin Trucking for providing the hamburgers for the BBQ and DeLoach’s Water Conditioning cases of water to the BBQ. You can always count on these two gentlemen to step up and donate to support our youth.

The City of Lamar Parks and Recreation grounds crew did an outstanding job of having the Sports Complex fields in excellent playing condition. Thank you, City of Lamar, for a job well done.  We received numerous positive comments about our complex.

Dick Peecher did the scheduling of umpires for the three days of games. His part of the tournament was critical to its success.

I would like to thank the Babe Ruth League Board of Directors for their diligent work in putting these two tournaments together. Board members are Tana Pearson, Bryce Thacker, Jason Ratcliff and myself.  Although not on the board, Chris Buxton was a tremendous help as we got closer to the tournament.

Our community has an outstanding facility in the Sports Complex. It is a perfect facility for hosting these types of tournaments.  However, it takes community support to make them successful.

Thank you,  Sincerely

Jim Larrick
