Hilaria Frausto, known to most as “Ida”, was born on October 21, 1926 in Walsenburg, Colorado to Espiridion and Gregoria (Martinez) Frausto and passed away on May 4, 2017 in Lamar, Colorado at the age of 90.

Ida was a loving mother and grandmother, sister, and aunt. She had so much love to give that the Lord blessed her twice. Her first love was Frank Marfil, to this union three daughters and three sons were born. When the Lord called Frank into his Kingdom, he blessed her with another loving man, Jess Ronquillo. He was the “Granpo” that her great grandchildren grew up with. Ida loved her Lord with all her heart and soul. She would pray the Rosary twice a day, and if a family member or friend was sick or in need of prayer, Ida would pray the Novena for them. Ida never said a curse word and never spoke unkindly of another person. She would welcome you into her home, offer you a meal, even if you’ve eaten and had a full belly, she would still try to get you to eat something. Ida loved life, she especially loved little children, their innocence and their laughter. While in the Bent County Nursing Home, Ida thoroughly enjoyed the children’s visits, and when the elementary students would paint her nails. She especially loved it when her great nieces would give her manicures. Ida was such a selfless person. When it came to Christmas, her birthday, Mother’s Day, etc., she would always tell her children, “I don’t want anything, just to know you are all healthy and supportive of each other.” All her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and entire family are living examples of the love and respect Ida taught them.

Ida is survived by her children, Marcella (Fransisco) Parra, Beverly (Teodoro) Escalon, Mary (Diana Palomino) Marfil, Frank (Ann) Marfil, and Ernest (Amy) Marfil; sister, Mary (Angel) Melendez; brother, Frank Frausto; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; as well as many other beloved family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Espiridion and Gregoria (Martinez) Frausto; husbands, Frank Marfil and Jess Ronquillo; son, Umberto Garcia; four brothers; two sisters; and two great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made in her name, in care of Horber Funeral Chapel, P.O Box 431 Las Animas, CO 81054.
