Funeral services for Lamar, CO resident, Virgil Ray Friesen will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar, Colorado.  Pastor  Wayne Nazarenus will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Lamar, Colorado.

Visitation for Virgil will be held from 1:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2017 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar, Colorado.

Virgil was born on August 11, 1921 at Geneseo, Kansas to Henry N. and Marie (Peters) Friesen.  He passed away on January 4, 2017 in Kindred Acute Care Long Term Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 95 with his family by his side.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Henry N. and Marie (Peters) Friesen; wife, Emma Eloise (Riter) Friesen; brother, Chester Friesen and wife, Violet; and brother-in-law, William Farver.

He is survived by his four children, George (Villa) Friesen of Deer, AR, Wanda (Brent) Balmer of Ault, CO, Clarence (Karlene) Friesen of Union Star, MO, and Calvin Friesen of Holly, CO; sister, Irene Farver of Cottonwood, AZ; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
