This is the final week for nominations to be accepted for annual Chamber awards.
Lamar, CO – The Lamar Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the 2017 Citizen of the Year award. This award is presented annually to honor an individual that has made a substantial contribution to the Prowers County area. The nominees must have exhibited leadership in community projects and be involved in civic activities that benefit the community.
Nominees may be involved in health or human services, education, recreation, arts or cultural improvement, economic development or community-based organizations which contribute to the quality of life of our community. Nominees should have specific and noteworthy accomplishments. The criteria to be considered in presenting a name include: purpose, leadership, community involvement and cooperation and support. The person’s profession, position and company of employment as well as a biographical sketch is required.
In addition to the Citizen of the Year Award, the Chamber is looking for nominations for our 2nd Annual Business of the Year Award. This award looks to acknowledge a Business or Organization that has made a large contribution to the community and, in turn, has made Lamar a better community to live and work in.
We are also looking for nominations from businesses to recognize their outstanding employees. Businesses and managers are asked to submit the names of these employees that go above and beyond, and deserve recognition. These individuals will be announced at the Annual Banquet and presented with a certificate.
Nomination forms are available from the Lamar Chamber of Commerce for the 2016 honoree. The nominations should be submitted in a sealed envelope and a confidential panel will select the recipient who will be announced during the Lamar Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet, Wednesday, January 25 at the Lamar Eagles Aerie.
Nominations should be submitted no later than noon on Friday, January 13. Reservations for the Banquet Dinner should be made by January 20. Contact the Lamar Chamber offices at 719-336-4379 for additional information.
