Soft Month for April Sales Tax Collections

Sales Tax collections for the City of Lamar for March dropped although year to date figures continues to show a gain. Sales Tax alone was down 7.82% for a drop of $24,224, putting current collections at $285,512, compared to this time last year at $309,737.  Total Sales and Use Tax collections were also down 3.75% for a drop of $12,297 with total collections for the month at $315,821 compared to 2015 at $328,119.

Year to date Sales Tax collections posted a gain of less than one percent, at 0.64% for a slight gain of $7,123. City Sales Tax collected were $1,116,455 for 2016 against $1,109,331 for the same time last year.  Total Year to Date collections posted a gain of 5.18% for an improvement over last year by $62,557.  2016 YTD collections were $1,270,103 compared to 2015 at $1,207,526.

Year to Date collections for the 12 different retail sales categories showed a steady growth for most sectors.
