Sherri Ruth Rider, 60, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She
was born on November 20, 1965.
Sherri lived a spirited life, she was full of spunk and had a heart full of love, and an unwavering belief
that anything was possible. She never saw limits in the world around her. Instead, she saw opportunities, dreams, and possibilities. She was a dream catcher, always eager to hear about the hopes and aspirations of others, and she would dream right alongside them.
In 1983, Sherri met the love of her life, Mark Rider. Together they built a life centered on family, hard
work, and countless memories. Their love story spanned more than four decades and created a family
that was the pride and joy of Sherri’s life. After graduating from cosmetology school, Sherri operated her beauty shop in Wiley during the early 2000s, where she enjoyed visiting with friends and serving her community. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued.
Sherri and her family loved spending time in the mountains, hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors
together. She loved country music, sunny days at the lake, and being in the water whenever she had the
chance. She was rarely far from a crochet project and almost never without a Diet Coke in hand. She also had a special place in her heart for animals and cared for many pets throughout her life. While Sherri treasured every season of her life, one of her greatest joys came with the arrival of her grandchildren. Nothing made her smile more than spending time with them, sharing stories, laughter, and love.
Sherri is survived by her devoted husband, Mark Rider; her children, Meadow Larrew and her children,
Jade and Keaton; Christian Rider and wife, Sondra, and their children, Kaden, Kyanne, and Lillian; Joshua Rider and wife, Amber, and their children, Dually and Cali; and Tamara Rider and her children, Kolten and Tylee. She is also survived by her mother, Carolyn Darnell; her siblings, Kimmie, Tami, Fawn, Faith, Wayde, Wayne, and Charmayne; along with many extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were touched by her kindness and encouragement. Sherri was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Foster; her stepfather, Norman Darnell; her aunt, Etta Anderson, who helped raise her and held a special place in her heart; her grandmother Nellie Ruth (Harper) McElroy; her parents-in-law, Royal and Mary Rider; and her brothers-in-law, Royal Rider Jr. and John Ariel.
Sherri’s love, laughter, optimism, and ability to dream big will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the family she cherished, the dreams she inspired,
and the memories that will be treasured forever. Honoring Sherri’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Her family will gather privately at a later date to celebrate her life and the memories they shared together.
