The Lamar community is invited to come together this Independence Day for a special celebration honoring three remarkable milestones: the 250th birthday of the United States, the 150th anniversary of Colorado, and Lamar’s 140th birthday.
This year’s Fourth of July falls on a Saturday, creating the perfect opportunity to host a community-wide Wet & Dry Parade down Main Street. Organizers hope the event will bring families, friends, neighbors, and visitors together to celebrate our shared history and community spirit. The parade is designed with fun for everyone in mind. Whether you’re watching from the sidelines or participating in the procession, this is a wonderful way to spend the holiday with family and friends while celebrating the patriotic pride that makes our community special.
Adding to the excitement, Frontier Bank will be giving away 250 free squirt guns on the morning of the parade in honor of America’s 250th birthday. Participants and spectators alike are encouraged to arrive early and join in the fun as the community celebrates this historic occasion.
The Lamar Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting parade registrations. Participation is not limited to businesses and organizations. Families, individuals, clubs, and groups of all kinds are encouraged to join the festivities. Bring your children, walk your dog, decorate your bicycle, or gather your friends and neighbors. Dress up in your favorite red, white, and blue attire and help create a memorable celebration for the entire community.
Anyone wishing to participate in the parade is encouraged to contact the Lamar Chamber of Commerce and submit their parade application by June 30. Organizers are looking forward to a wide variety of entries that showcase the creativity, spirit, and pride of the Lamar community.
Community support is also being sought to help make the event a success. Individuals and businesses interested in making a donation or becoming a parade sponsor are encouraged to contact the Lamar Chamber of Commerce for sponsorship opportunities and additional information.
Additional details about the parade route, including designated wet and dry zones, will be announced in future articles. Be sure to watch for updates as plans continue to take shape.
Mark your calendars and make plans to be part of this historic celebration as Lamar honors 250 years of America, 150 years of Colorado, and 140 years of community pride. Whether you’re marching in the parade, cheering from the sidelines, volunteering, sponsoring, or simply enjoying the festivities with family and friends, this promises to be a Fourth of July celebration to remember.
