The Zonta Club of Prowers County is participating in the Zonta Says No campaign for 2019 and recently had the City of Lamar issue Proclamation No. 19-08 as “A Proclamation declaring the 16 days between International Day to Eliminate Violence against Women on November 25th and International Human Rights Day on December 10th as the 16 Days of activism against Gender Violence.”
Local club members help raise awareness of and increase actions toward ending gender violence, especially against women and girls around the world through service and advocacy. Zonta members are distributing posters to local businesses to highlight awareness of the problem and banners will be placed at the Lamar Chamber of Commerce asking individuals to support the Zonta Says No Campaign. Area residents will also notice silhouettes placed at locations around Lamar to remember victims and to find additional information about projects and activities being held at local district and international clubs.
The final event of the campaign is the annual Holiday Home Tour held Sunday, December 8th from 1-4pm which features area homes that have been decorated for the holiday season. All proceeds from the vent go to the Domestic Safety Resource Center in Lamar. Tickets are available at The Lassie, Flower Boutique, Core Financial, GN Bank or from any Zonta member. Tickets can be purchased on December 8th at $8.00 each.
