Weapons and Drugs Netted in Arrest

On Saturday, September 28, 2019 officers of the Lamar Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 100 block of W. Grant St. Lamar for a traffic violation. K9 Spark was utilized and indicated a positive alert for narcotics in the vehicle. The driver, identified as Christopher Payne, age 25 of Lamar, and front passenger, identified as Jeremy Harris, age 45 of Lamar, were detained for investigation.

While searching the vehicle, officers located methamphetamine and items utilized in the distribution of narcotics. Two weapons were also seized from the vehicle.  

Christopher Payne and Jeremy Harris were transported to the Prowers County Jail, where they were held on charges related to possession of schedule II controlled substance, distribution of controlled substance, and possession of illegal weapons. Due to the distribution and weapons charges, they were charged as special offenders and held without bond pending hearing.  

The charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
