2019 Lamar Days, “Springing the Community Together”

Car Show Entries

 

 

Activities will run from about sun-up to way past sundown for this year’s Lamar Days Celebration beginning with an afternoon BBQ, Friday, May 17th from 11am to 1pm at the Lamar Comber of Commerce on East Beech Street.  Tickets are available at the Chamber for the burger BBQ as well as healthy and tasty additions provided by High Plains Community Health Center.

Quackers is Approaching

Participating stores are hosting a Scavenger Hunt during the meal. Game boards are available at the BBQ and shoppers can hunt for a bargain from the sidewalk sales.  Participants have until 4pm to turn in their boards to the Lamar Chamber.  Friday evening activities include the annual No Booze Cruise and Poker Run with the Cops, starting with the 6pm line-up of show cars at Sonic Drive-in at 1001 North Main Street.  Proceeds help fund the annual July 4th fireworks display hosted by the Lamar Fire Department.

Sunrisers can enjoy a 6am start on their day with the traditional breakfast hosted by the Lamar Lions Club. The pancake breakfast continues until 9am at the Masonic Temple on South Main Street adjacent to the Lamar Theater.

The Lamar Days Parade begins at 10am with a welcome return to the traditional Main Street route with Doug and Linda Harbour honored as this year’s Lamar Days Royalty. The parade will travel south of Highway 287 and turn onto Cedar Street to Parkview and the south into the Lamar Municipal Pool parking lot.

Willow Creek Park will play host to various vendors from 8am to 4pm, coinciding with the 24th Annual Lamar Days Rod Run Car Show.  Events through the day include Boys Scouts Flag Ceremony, the Annual Lamar Rotary Ducky Dash at 12:30, this year, taking a watery run down the Lamar Creek, a Spirit Dance is set for 2pm, the Rod Run Car Blow-up will be held at 3pm and All the Right Moves will perform at 3:30.

-Some of the Rod Run Car Show entries will be in the parking lot during the Kick-off BBQ Friday for viewing leading up to the No Booze Cruise w/ the Cops.

-Large mural for anyone and everyone to color @ Willow Creek Park on Saturday that’s being created and drawn by the LHS Art Class
