Reorganization Meeting Held for Prowers County Officials

Various annual housekeeping procedures occurred at the Prowers County Courthouse this past Tuesday, January 8th as well as swearing-in ceremonies for those elected officials who were returned to office following the November General Election.

Judge Stanley Brinkley administered the oath of office to these elected officials Tuesday afternoon: Lane Porter as Prowers County Court Judge; Michael Davidson as District Court Judge for 15th Judicial District, Commissioner Ron Cook, Clerk & Recorder Jana Coen, Andy Wyatt as County Assessor, Judy Wittman as County Treasurer, replacing former Treasurer Lorraine Woolley in the only contested election this past November, Sam Zordel as County Sheriff and County Coroner Joe Giadone.

2019 REORGANIZATION MEETING RESULTS as of JANUARY 8, 2019, were also conducted during the second half of the Board of Commissioner’s meeting and with only a few changes, the positions remained as the year before. Wendy Buxton-Andrade became the Commissioner Chairman and Tom Grasmick was elected as Vice-Chair.  Faron Williams replaced Kirk Powers as County Building Maintenance and Facilities Director late last year.

The commissioners held a first reading for Ordinance 2019-1 pertaining to regulating control of Public Parks, Public Lands and Public Facilities in the County. Two action items were tabled pending additional advertisements for seats on the Lodging Tax Tourism Panel.  Interested and qualified parties may submit an application to one of three seats on the Panel until 2020 and one seat is open for a remaining term to expire this December. The Panel meets for approximately one hour on the third Tuesday of each month at 4pm.  Chad Hart was reappointed to the Prowers Planning Commission with the term expiring in 2022.

County Coroner Joe Giadone

A memorandum of understanding was approved between the Prowers County Hotline County Connection Center for one year with Weld, Larimer and Rio Blanco Counties to answer and process related hotline calls for information and processing.

The next BoCC meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 15th at the County Courthouse.
