Commercial Club Notes Great Turnout for Holly Holiday Events

The December meeting of the Holly Commercial Club was held on December 5, 2018.

Two guests were present from the Small Business Development Center.

The minutes and treasure reports were approved.

The Holly Shopper Report was given by the Honorable John Golden (Golden Printing), and is showing a profit. President Jesse Frey (TBK Bank) raved about the success of the Old Fashion Christmas and thanked everyone for their planning and work. Special thanks was given to Jennifer Holdren (Holly Family Chiropractic) for her organization of promotional material.  It was suggested that the date stick at the first Tuesday of December.

The discussion regarding Christmas Cards ensued. These are available for purchase at Reymans Grocery. There were thoughts of providing these sorts of cards, year round. The Honorable John Golden will bring sample ideas to the next meeting.

It was approved that the Holly Commercial Club provides the water for the Kids Christmas movies this year. The Group decided to alter their advertising with KVAY-radio and Beacon Broadcasting and focus solely on the events that the Club either sponsors or events that bring people to Holly. This was approved.

Officers for 2019 were appointed and voted. Your new slate of officers are President Jesse Frey (TBK Bank), Vice President Rod Swisher (Tumbleweed Welding and Repair), and Viola Melcher will be serving as Secretary.  Treasure position will be officially announced in 2019.

Cheryl Sanchez and Anne Marie Crampton presented in regards to the Small Business Development Center and the incredible resources that are available, through a grant with PEP.

Concerns for the lack of adequate and affordable housing throughout Holly were expressed. A workshop focusing solely on the changes in taxes for 2019 will be December 18, on the Lamar Community College Campus.

The meeting was adjourned, and our next meeting is January 2. Invoices for 2019 membership are available! Contact any member!
