American Civil Constructors released updated information concerning roadwork on Main Street in Lamar as the third and fourth phases of the project move forward. The press release states that Phase III and the west side of Phase IV will be completed within the month of November and move on the east side of Phase IV which involves the section of work from Grant Street to the Lamar Canal Road.
The five parts to the Phase IV East Project include:
- By mid-November, ACC will wrap up the concrete work on the west side from Sherman Street to Lamar Canal road.
- ACC will begin to remove the old roadway surface from the east side of US 287 from Grant Street to the Canal Road and begin prepping for concrete pavement.
- Crews are also working from Hickory Street just north of the railroad tracks to Grant Street on the east side, finishing up curb and gutter and handicap ramps. As these sections are completed, ACC will begin opening them up to traffic from the south to the north.
- Traffic will be head-to-head on the west side from Hickory to Lamar Canal Road. Business access in this area will be limited to right-in and right-out with no parking on Main Street.
There will be two through side streets at Hickory and Maple to cross Main Street on the north side of the railroad tracks. Work zone speeds remain at 25mph and crews will be on-site from 7am to 7pm with the exception of November 22-25 for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
