Lamar Sales Tax Revenues Take an Early Fall Dip

 

 

The City of Lamar Sales Tax revenues declined slightly for September sales collected this past October. City Sales Tax collected was down 14.26% for a drop of $48,428.71 for the month, posting $291,109.75 for 2018 compared to $339,538.46 collected for the same period in 2017.

Total Sales and Use Tax collections were down 13.26% for September for a drop in revenue collections of $49,594.99. Total Sales and Use Tax collections were off for the month with collections at $324,482.53.  That compares with $374,077.52 collected in the same period for 2017.

Year-to-Date collections still posted a positive percentage rate with City Sales Tax revenues collected up 3.24% for a gain of $92,501.82 for the year. Collections in 2017 were at $2,857,102.71 and were up $2,949,604.53 for 2018.  Use Tax collections were up 31.57% for a gain over last year by $77,877.10 and Total Sales and Collections were up 5.57% for a gain over last year at this same time by $173,932.44.  Total collections for 2017 were $3,120,623.80 and for the current year were $3,294,556.24.

Sales and Use Tax revenue for the past three years, based on twelve retail categories, shows significant gains in Building Materials and in C-Stores and Gas Stations.
