The Holly Commercial Club met on Wednesday, September 5, with four guests with the Karen McCormick for Congress campaign. The Minutes and Treasurer’s Reports were given and approved. The Holly Shopper report was given.
Old Business:
Cornhole Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, September 29. Sign-up sheets were passed around for volunteers to run this event. Thanks to Tracee Nelson-Yarborough (High Plains Community Health Center) and Rod Swisher (Tumbleweed Welding and Repair) were given for their help last year. If you want to sign up to help with this year’s event, please contact Jesse Frey (TBK Bank).
New Business:
The insurance policy was approved to be paid, with Rod Swisher double checking to see the input from the Holly Bluegrass from last year.
Jesse Frey announced a handful of events are being organized by the Holly Sports Boosters, including a 5K Color Run and “American Flags Across Holly” for September 29th. For more information on that, check out the Holly Sports Boosters Facebook page.
“Food for thought” regarding the drawings for Christmas and Holly Dollars, is that the monies stay local to help keep the dollars in Holly, per Frey.
Frey addressed the rumors regarding marijuana coming to Holly. They are simply that, rumors.
It was announced a GoFundMe Page has been established for long-time business, Cliff’s Gas and Diesel. There is no official account set up, but donations would also be accepted at TBK Bank to be given to Cliff’s.
Karen McCormick, running for Congress District 4, introduced herself and her campaign team and invited the present members to introduce themselves and talk about their concerns. For more information, you can go to mccormickforcongress.org
Housecleaning: Calvin Melcher offered transportation for any veteran, who wanted to participate in the 9/11 Tribute that was held on Saturday September 8 in Lamar. The Picnic in the Park to honor and thank all ambulance volunteers, firefighter volunteers, and first responder volunteers will be held Sunday September 16 in the Holly Gateway Park.
