Ira “Bud” Spurgeon…June 18, 1937 – August 26, 2018

 

A Celebration of Life Service for Hasty, Colorado resident, Ira “Bud” Spurgeon will be held Friday, August 31, 2018 at 10 A.M. at the Hasty Fire Station in Hasty, Colorado.

Ira “Bud” Sanford Spurgeon was born on June 18, 1937 to George and Goldie (Nichols) Spurgeon in Pomona, Kansas. In November of 1958 Bud enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged on November 30, 1962. Bud married Dorothy Lightcap on April 10, 1960 at the Friends Church in Hasty, Colorado. To this union 2 sons were born, Monte and Shawn. Bud was a longtime truck driver and was best known for his service to his community as a volunteer firefighter for the Hasty/McClave Fire Department. He had many friends throughout Colorado, Kansas, and Texas.  His hobbies included woodworking and working on old tractors.  Bud passed away on August 26, 2018 at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado at the age of 81.

Bud is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Monte; 4 brothers, Bob, Sonny, Darrell, David; 2 sisters, Jessie and Sylvia; 2 brothers-in-law, Richard and Clifford; 7 grandchildren, Stormy, Patrick, Amy, Keith, Andrew, Glen, and Daisha; 9 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relative and a host of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Shawn Ray Spurgeon; granddaughters, Darcy Dawn Spurgeon and Jessica Shearer; great-grandson, Shawn Dailing; brother-in-law, Billy Ray Lightcap; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Lightcap-Spurgeon; and in-laws, Ray and Josie Lightcap.
