Lamar Sales Tax Collections Posts Continued Gains

 

 

May Sales and Use Tax revenues collected in June show a continued climb compared to previous months. City Sales Tax was up 6.64% for an increase of $18,536.71 with collections for 2017 at $279.310.05 and for 2018, $297.846.76.  Total Sales and Use Tax revenues were up 7.65% for a gain of $22,746.50.  Collections for 2017 were $297,451.28 and were $320,197.78 for the current year.

Year-to-date revenues for City Sales Tax showed a gain of 9.01% for an increase of $147,164.88. 2017 revenues were at $1,632,666.48 and were at $1,779,831.36 for 2018, year-to-date.  Use Tax collections were up 51.14% for $72,596.71 and Other collections were up 26.50% for a gain of $3,941.778.  Total Sales and Use Tax collections showed a 12.50% increase with collections between 2017 and 2018 up $223,703.37.  Collections for 2017 were $1,789,509.53 and year-to-date are $2,013,212.90.

The 12 retail categories for tax collections over the past three years, show growth in Auto Parts and heavy increases in Building Materials as well as Convenience Stores and Gas Stations.
