New Addition for Prowers County Sheriff’s Posse

Donations from several local businesses in Lamar have helped fund a new storage shed for the Prowers County Sheriff’s Posse. A self-funded group, the Posse realized they needed a replacement storage unit at the southwest edge of Elmer’s Garden earlier this year.
The former building had endured a lot of weather over the decades, but after realizing that the storage unit became a home for area varmints and vermin this past spring, they decided it had to go. The new shed, roughly the same dimensions as the former one, will house a four-wheeler and the new modified golf-cart donated to the Posse by Big R earlier this year, plus some hand-held equipment and shelves.
The same foundation was used, but that included some patchwork as well. According to a Posse spokesperson, the various businesses contributed about one-quarter of the purchase price of the shed which was bought locally. The Posse wanted to thank them publicly for their continued support: TBK Bank, Valley National Bank, Frontier Bank, Fellowship Credit Union, Legacy Bank, Love’s Country Store, Lamar Auto Sales and BMS. Additional thanks go out to Colorado Mills, 4 Rivers Equipment, A-1 Rental and Tractor Supply for donating the items needed to prepare the annual Sand and Sage Barbecue.
