Boxley Announces Run for Lamar Re-2 School Board

Lamar: Long-time Lamar resident, Clifford Boxley, is pleased to announce that he is running for the District G position on the Lamar Re-2 School Board.

An alumnus of the Lamar school system, including Washington Elementary School, Parkview Elementary School, Lamar High School and Lamar Community College, with additional training in Principles of Adult Learning, Teaching English Language Learners, and Teaching Learners with Autism, Boxley continues to display a lifelong dedication to education.

Additionally, Boxley’s commitment to the betterment of the Lamar community is evident in his dedication to the Prowers County Veteran’s Transportation Program, his volunteer work having earned him numerous prestigious awards, including the Lamar Chamber of Commerce Humanitarian of the Year Award for 2017, as well as a recent commendation from the Prowers County Commissioners.

Boxley also serves on the Lamar Light and Power Board, the Lamar Planning and Zoning Board and the Lamar Partnership, Inc. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he is also on the Board of Governors of the 1st Cavalry Division Association, the second largest military association in the world.

According to Terri Farmer, Election Officer for the RE-2 District, candidates need to pick up a petition packet from her office by August 9th and return it by September 1st with at least 50 registered voter signatures.  Additional information is available from the administration office on West Pearl Street in Lamar.

Editor’s Note: Five board members will have their terms expire in 2017.  They include: Rod Schwartz, District A; Lanie Meyers-Mireles, District B; Connie Jacobsen, District C; Nancy Winsor, District E and Chris Wilkinson, District G.
