Eric Depperschmidt, Executive Director of PEP, Prowers Economic Prosperity was present and a guest.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The Treasurers Report was read and approved. The Holly Shopper Report was given, with a loss and the Membership Report was given.
Calvin Melcher added to the agenda about the Memorial Day Service at the Holly Cemetery, on May 29 at approximately 10am. They will be doing services throughout the morning, with Holly being the last. He encouraged everyone to go up to the cemetery around evening, to see the solar lights on the graves of serviceman and servicewoman. Financially, the Holly VFW has been blessed with a generous donation, to cover all expenses.
Old Business:
Sports Championship Sign: It was recommended to place it next to the school marquee, on Main Street. However, Monica Leiker feels that that location would make it harder to see from the highway. She still believes that the west side of town is ideal, next to the “Welcome to Holly” sign. She has sought the advice of a local business for ideas. She also needs to still inquire at the city office, regarding the property.
Community Clean is re-scheduled for Saturday, May 20, at 9am at Gateway Park.
New Business:
Holly Wog, sponsored by the Holly Fun Club & Monica Leiker, will be Saturday, June 10, at 6:30am. Registrations are due May 26. Search on Facebook for Holly Wog 2017 for more information. What is a wog, you may ask. It is a walk-jog event. She will be utilizing J & N Shoes for the shirt design again this year.
The Holly Commercial Club will be hosting their annual BBQ dinner on the Friday of Holly Bluegrass (June 9). After an incredibly successful dinner last year, they are projecting 200 dinners for this year. KVAY will also be on site with their 105 Pounds of Cash giveaway. A donation of $150 was given, to offset the cost of the live remote.
Our next meeting will be June 7. Follow us on FaceBook.
