Southeastern Developmental Services and the Department of Human Services for the county, each had proclamations affirmed by the Prowers County Commissioners recently. Dave Harbour of SDS presented the commissioners with an update on activities at the Lamar-based organization, including the annual open house set for Thursday, April 6, from 11am to 2pm. Residents can enjoy an afternoon of light snacks and meet the staff and residents of Southeastern Developmental Services and the efforts they make to integrate the residents to experience a full life in their community.
Lanie Meyers Mireles, Director of the Prowers County Department of Human Services, and Courtney Holt-Rogers, DHS Child Welfare Manager, were joined with members of Human Services as the proclamation for Child Abuse Prevention Month for April was read by the commissioners. The proclamation read in part, “We must come together as partners so that the voices of our children are heard by all and we are as a community aware of child maltreatment prevention and working to extend a helping hand to children and families in need.”
