Prowers County Zontians plan to sell 1,450 roses now through March 3rd and distribute them on March 8th. It is the Zonta Club of Prowers County’s 13th year with this fundraiser. All proceeds are reinvested in Zonta service projects, including Embrace Your Potential workshops and Zonta scholarships. These include annual Lamar Community College; Open; Non-Traditional; Jane M. Klausman Business; and Young Women in Public Affairs scholarships.
To order roses to recognize women who have made a difference in our communities, contact a local Zonta member for an order form or mail an order to: Zonta Rose Day P.O. Box 305, Lamar, CO 81052. Order forms are also available at The Flower Boutique, Core Financial and The Lassie. Checks should be made payable to Zonta Rose Day and include the name of the person to receive the rose, who it is from, the delivery address and phone number, as well as any special delivery instructions. Deadline for orders is Friday, March 3rd, 2017. Information is also available at the club’s Facebook page, Prowers County Zonta.
International Women’s Day and Zonta International’s Rose Day are observed by Zontians and other women’s groups on March 8th, a day in which members around the world recognize efforts to advance the status of women in every culture and in all their endeavors. Although the date for global recognition of International Women’s Day was established by the United Nations in 1977 as March 8th, many groups around the world celebrate events during the week prior to this date.
