ALAMOSA (Sept. 2, 2016) — Sen. Larry Crowder (R-Alamosa) has been endorsed by Secure PERA, a coalition dedicated to protecting the retirement benefits of 500,000 Colorado retirees. Sen. Crowder is running for reelection in the 35th District.

Secure PERA sent all candidates a questionnaire to determine which candidates would support the PERA system for retired current and future employees. Incumbent candidates’ voting records were also considered.

PERA is Colorado’s retirement system for state employees. Secure PERA is a coalition of organizations and individuals that support PERA.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for my work with Secure PERA. They face many challenges in the future as they work to balance the retirement promises made to public employees with safeguards for the taxpayer,” Sen. Crowder said.

“It’s vital our public servants like teachers and law enforcement officers have the retirement benefits they were promised and groups like Secure PERA are working to do just that.” Secure PERA endorsed 15 senate candidates and 39 house candidates.

“We have challenges in Colorado, but none are insurmountable if we’re willing to be respectful, listen to one another and work together to achieve a positive outcome for our state,” Sen. Crowder said.
