Local Photographer and Friend Featured in First Friday Art Show

Show-Banner-Board2Local photographer Vincent Gearhart of Lamar, and professional photographer Lex Nichols from Rocky Ford, will present ‘Colorado Abandoned‘, a photography show of anything abandoned, dilapidated, broken-down or just plain interesting. They’ve traveled around the southeastern part of the state shooting photographs. The show will open with an artist’s reception on Friday, August 5, 2016, 5:30 – 7:00 pm at The IDEA Place, located at 408 North Main Street in Rocky Ford and will be in place all month. If you miss the opening, Monday’s are the best day to view the show.

Show Schedule
First Friday Opening Date is Friday, August 5, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Refreshments of cookies, lemonade, and iced tea will be provided.  The show closes on Tuesday, August 30, 2016.

Bios

Lex Nichols was born and raised in Rocky Ford. At about 15 his stepmom bought him his first camera and his interest in art and photography really took off. In 2003 he started Lex Nichols Photography and was doing photography full time by 2004. He earned a Professional Certification through the Professional Photographers of America specializing in portrait lighting, landscapes and digital art (Photoshop). Lex began teaching digital art, photography and Photoshop at Otero Junior College while also running his business. In a few years his wife Jennifer joined the LNP team and now runs the business from their home in Rocky Ford. Lex has been featured in Outdoor Photographer, Cowboys and Indians, Balloon Life and numerous other national publications. Currently, Lex is represented by Alamy Images Stock Agency based out of the UK where his images are sold worldwide. He is employed by Otero County as Public Works Director but still continues his photography adventures.

Vincent Gearhart graduated from La Junta High School. He worked for the railroad for 20 years. Worked with computers at Computer Products & Services, was in sales at B106, KSIR in Fort Morgan, then did data sales and dealer services for Viaero Wireless, and is now back at Robinson Printing, Inc. in Lamar helping publish a weekly newspaper and doing sales. Vince has always had a passion for photography. While starting and raising a family, taking pictures was a natural endeavor. Only in the past few years has Vince expanded his photography with better equipment and by studying photography and art. Vince mainly enjoys shooting isolated objects, whether it is flowers, animals, vegetables, automobiles or whatever.
